North Dodge Elementary-Another Great School Year!

The Faculty and Staff at North Dodge Elementary are preparing for another great school year.  Parents and students are busy buying the necessities they need to help them in their day to day activities and teachers are just as busy preparing for their school year.  Teaching children is not just a job, but a way of life.  Teachers spend many days and hours preparing lessons, units, and activities to prepare students for not only the skills needed to pass tests (such as the Milestones) but giving them the skills they need to become self-sufficient adults.  North Dodge Elementary is not only a school building but a place where students have fun and parental involvement is encouraged.  Research has shown that parental involvement with their child’s school and their school work is a positive experience for the students and is also linked to success in their child’s school year.  The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is busy each year raising money as well as helping the school provide the teachers with materials such as computers and Smart Boards that make learning fun. Please contact Susan Harrell if you are interested in helping with PTO activities.  North Dodge is very proud of the honor of be awarded a High Progress School for the 2016-2017 year. Every person involved in the school, including parents and students, has played an important role in making North Dodge a successful school.  What a great year! Although progress was made, the school has many other challenges ahead.  Each Spring third, fourth, and fifth grade students are administered the Georgia Milestones (formally the CRCT).  This test not only covers the standards that are taught at each grade level but also involves writing skills and standards.  A percentage of students are tested on line with others using the paper and pencil version.

During the summer, both elementary schools underwent some much needed renovations.  The front of each school was extended to provide more shelter area and also a security wall was built to provide a more secure environment for the students, faculty, and staff.  All of the staff and students restrooms were renovated with new fixtures and floors.  The renovations will continue throughout the year and also into the summer of 2017.  More information will be sent home about the security changes at the beginning of the school year.

The upcoming school year will begin on August 9, 2016.  Teachers will report to the school on August 2, 2016 for pre planning.  Open House for parents will be held at all Dodge County Schools on Monday, August 8, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.  Please contact the school if you need further information (478)374-6690 or email me at

We look forward to opening our doors for another great and successful school year.
