Dodge County School District Goals:

All students of the Dodge County Schools will increase achievement annually.

The Dodge County Schools will foster healthy relationships with all stakeholders in order to meet the needs of students.

North Dodge Elementary School Goals:

Standardized test scores for students at North Dodge Elementary School will meet or exceed the Georgia State Average on the “State Test” in Reading, Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies.

To help your child meet school goals, the school, you, and your child will work together by fulfilling the following responsibilities:

School Responsibilities:

Provide high quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables students to meet the State’s student academic achievement standards by:

  • Providing links on the school website to helpful parent resources that correlate with the Georgia Standards of Excellence.
  • Include parent resources in the class newsletter related to reading, math, and writing standards being taught during the month.
  • Provide and promote parent workshops that highlight reading and math skills.

Hold parent-teacher conferences throughout the year to discuss student progress.

  • Parent-Teacher Conferences will be planned each year and can also be held as needed. Conferences can be requested by parents, teachers, counselors, and/or administrators. School personnel are available before and after school as well as during planning periods during the school day. Phone conferences may be held if parents cannot come to the school to meet in person.
  • ESOL staff will assist teachers in conferencing with parents whose native language is not English.
  • During conferences the compact will be discussed and all parties will share how they are meeting the requirements of the compact.

Provide parents with frequent reports on their child’s progress by:

  • Students’ progress reports, work samples, and behavior updates will be sent home in weekly folders and/or daily agendas (4th -5th grades).
  • Teachers will communicate with parents about student’s progress and learning in multiple ways including phone calls, email, and written notes in the weekly folders or agendas.
  • Progress reports will be sent home every 4 ½ weeks and report cards every 9 weeks.
  • Parents of 1st – 5th grade students will have access to the Power Parent Portal to check grades and attendance online.

Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class, and to observe classroom activities as follows:

  • Multiple opportunities to volunteer and participate in school activities and each child’s class are available.
  • Teachers may invite parents to participate in lessons or activities and to participate in classroom observations throughout the year.

Parent Responsibilities:

We, as parents, will:

  • Check agendas (4-5) nightly and folders weekly for at home assignments that support vocabulary development, writing based answers, solving math problems and practicing basic math skills. Read the class newsletters to gain information and use resources provided to help my child with reading, math, and writing at home.
  • Go to the school website to access information and resources related to standards being taught.
  • When visiting the school, check the resource center in the front lobby for parent brochures related to how parents can help students’ practice basic reading and math skills, problem solving and comprehension skills and social skills.
  • Read with my child daily, practice spelling and vocabulary words, and practice basic math skills (i.e. addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts).
  • Be responsible for getting my child to school on time every day.
  • Attend school workshops.

Student Responsibilities:

I, as a student, will:

  • Practice reading, spelling, writing skills, and basic math facts at home nightly with my family.
  • Set goals for myself to learn new words and read each day.
  • Be sure that my parents receive and review my weekly folders and/or agenda for updates on my achievement progress and any other important information about parent workshops and school events.
  • Be organized and prepared for class each day.
  • Attend school and arrive on time every day.
